“This label, true to its musical roots…”
Walk this Way? When I saw this I wondered if this was some kind of reference to the Aerosmith song/Run-D.M.C. cover. Seems that might well be the case. Music seems to be a running theme for a number of their wines, including this one. Although whether it’s the original or the cover is not exactly clear. It’s Tricky to know for sure.
Anyway, Steven Tyler or Jam Master Jay aside, I’ve had this a couple of times recently. Here’s the first bottle receiving some flash cooling treatment in the freezer for 30 minutes. Note the exceptional photography skills.
And here’s that same bottle now perfectly chilled.
My initial observations went along the lines of: “Oh, that’s a decent Riesling. Thick and oily.”
Later on I announced to myself: “Lime” and reassessed the “thick” to something akin to medium-weight.
Add fresh and mineral.
And that’s basically everything I noted at the time. Not exactly a wealth of information, but despite this the verdict was clear on this one; a delicious Riesling, at a fabulous price and I went and bought another bottle a few days later.
Below is the second bottle which was drunk as part of some birthday celebrations. It was well liked, matching extremely well with tacos (various spicy fillings with lime and coriander). I now have a further two bottles in the cellar.
By the way, that champagne is one of those La Maison du Champagne jobs. “Grande Reserve” seems a bit of a stretch and at 10g/l dosage it’s a bit too sweet on its own for my taste, but was fine enough with a plate of spicy food. The other stuff was grand.
