The Reserva Especial range tends to deliver the “essence” of the varietal and, for me, is the starting point of the Cono Sur range. Plum and black fruits dominate, with blackcurrant aromas and flavours most prominent. There’s a touch of ribena-like sweetness but also a bit of astringency which can be tamed with food. A decent introduction to Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Single Vineyard range is a step up and the 20 Barrels another step up and both are priced accordingly.
