“2018 perfectly aged into tertiary soy sauce territory.”
100% Gamay from Fleurie, one the 10 Beaujolais Crus. Well developed and perhaps nearing the peak of development.
There’s a very nice silken mouthfeel, mellow tannins, refreshing acidity, dark matured fruit, plum, slightly meaty, soy sauce and tar. Dark and brooding almost like a combination of a Barbaresco and Pinot Noir. Some floral and spicy aromas too.
Paired nicely with a homemade burger topped with bacon and cheddar cheese. Also decent enough with an accompanying simple salad with a balsamic vinegar and olive oil dressing.
Excellent at ¥2,750.
